Jellyfish for dinner? Researchers at Swansea University have teamed up with Cork University in Ireland to find out how factors such as climate change and overfishing are causing jellyfish to thrive, and what the subsequent effects are of these increased populations on tourism, aquaculture and fisheries.
They are also researching the opportunities to which their abundance could lead, such as food exports to the Far East, where jellyfish are considered a delicacy.
Ryegrass: a new option for biofuel - Researchers at the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences at Aberystwyth University are investigating the possibility of producing bioethanol fuel from ryegrass.
Medical scanning technique keeps wind turbines in good health - TWI Technology Centre in South Wales has led a project researching the development of a prototype radiographic system for the in-service inspection of wind turbines.
